Anthony Dawson was a Scottish actor perhaps best known for his roles in three James Bond films; he first appeared as Professor R.J. Dent in the 1962 film Dr. No before being cast to play SPECTRE boss Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the 1963 film From Russia with Love, a role which he reprised in the 1965 film Thunderball, although the voice for Blofeld was provided by Austrian actor Eric Pohlmann. Dawson would later parody his Blofeld role with his appearance in the 1967 Bond spoof O.K. Connery, where he played the Blofeld-like Alpha, the head of the SPECTRE-like THANATOS organization.
Anthony Dawson died of cancer in Sussex, England in 1992. He was 75 years old.
