Brian Carter was an MI6 assigned to assist James Bond on his mission to Madagascar to spy on bomb-maker Mollaka. Bond and Carter observed Mollaka watching a snake-and-mongoose fight, but when the crowd became loud, Carter began to repeatedly touch his earpiece so as to better hear what Bond was saying. Bond was in fact telling him to stop touching his ear, but alas it was too late; Mollaka spotted Carter and recognized that he was an agent, so he decided to make a run for it. Carter tried unsuccessfully to chase after him when he tripped and accidentally fired his gun, sending the crowd fleeing in all directions. Bond abandoned Carter to pursue Mollaka, eventually killing him at the Nambutu Embassy.
