Dr. No is a 1962 spy film and the first official installment of the official James Bond film series. As such, it was the first of the series to star Sean Connery as James Bond, a role he would go on to play a total of seven times (including the 1983 unofficial Bond film Never Say Never Again). The role of the titular villain was portrayed by Joseph Wiseman, while Ursula Andress appears as Honey Ryder, the first Bond girl. Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell both make their first appearances as M and Miss Moneypenny respectively, along with Peter Burton in his only appearance as Q. Dr. No was directed by Terrence Young, his first of three Bond films, and scored by Monty Norman, who created the iconic James Bond theme for the film.
