James "Jimmy" Bond is an American agent of Combined Intelligence. In 1954 he was sent to the Casino Royale in France to battle Soviet spy Le Chiffre in a game of baccarat. Here, Bond ran into his former lover Valerie Mathis, who was posing as Le Chiffre's girlfriend. Assisted by British agent Clarence Leiter, Bond was successful in his mission, thus leaving Le Chiffre bankrupt and prompting him to kidnap and torture Bond in order to get the winnings back. Bond manages to escape, but Le Chiffre trying to flee by using Valerie as a human shield. However, Bond is able to fatally shoot Le Chiffre as he tries to run out the door, leaving Bond to reconnect with Valerie.
This version of Bond appeared in the 1954 Casino Royale television broadcast, played by American actor Barry Nelson, who has the distinction of being the first ever actor to portray James Bond on screen.
