Live and Let Die is a 1973 spy film and the eighth official installment of the James Bond film series. It is the first of the series to star Roger Moore as James Bond and the only one to not feature Desmond Llewelyn as Q since his debut in From Russia with Love until his death in 1999. The film also stars Jane Seymour as Solitaire and Gloria Hendry as Rosie Carver, the first African American Bond girl, along with the first main black Bond villain in Yaphet Kotto's character Dr Kananga. Additional cast members include Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell returning as M and Miss Moneypenny respectively and Geoffrey Holder, Julius Harris, Earl Jolly Brown and Tommy Lane as Kananga's gaggle of henchmen.
